In conjunction
with the White House Office of Faith-Based

Effective Compassion," this new web site serves as a clearinghouse for
research and evaluation that describe how the government has become
more open
to partnering with new FBCOs while also strengthening existing
partnerships
with well-established nonprofit organizations to address some of the
country's
most complex social problems. Visit this new web site at: http://innovationincompassion.hhs.gov/index.html.

As
of July 2008, the following agencies have created
Web-based Resource Directories (which are in varying stages of
development):
- Budget Cuts:
The U.S. Department
of Health and Human Services has
announced that a reduction in this year's funding means that no new

be awarded to faith-based and community organizations through the Compassion
Capital Fund (CCF), a
centerpiece of the President's Faith-Based
and Community
Initiative.
- The U.S.
Department of Education's Center for Faith-Based and
Community Initiatives will
host a series of free workshops to
assist
faith-based and community organizations in applying to become approved
providers of extra academic help (Supplemental Educational Services)
for
disadvantaged students.
These
workshops are free, but
pre-registration is required.
Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis. Click

by the
U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development
These one-day workshops will assist
faith-based and
community organizations in preparing a competitive grant application
for
Federal funding. Workshop topics include: proposal writing
techniques, how
to access HUD and other government funds, HUD grants available to
nonprofit
organizations, and HUD common factors for awards. These workshops
are
intended for organizations that have their organizational board
